Andreas is the Assistant Priest of Great St Mary’s, the University Church, Cambridge, in the Anglican Diocese of Ely. In addition to his ministry at Great St Mary’s, he is Chaplain of Michaelhouse, a lively weekday church, providing under one roof an award-winning café, a renowned local gallery and a place of encounter for the local Cambridge community.
Andreas is a Senior Member of the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge with a research interest in Church History. He teaches both undergraduates and postgraduates, supervises theological students and pioneer ministers from the Cambridge Theological Federation and other Church of England theological colleges on short and long-term placements, and is one of three post-ordination training tutors in the Diocese of Ely.
He is chairman of trustees of Art beyond Belief, an Arts Council-funded arts provider working with young offenders, excluded children, and victims of domestic violence, and a trustee of the Cambridge interfaith educational trust Society for Dialogue and Action. A keen ecumenist, he is a theological secretary of the Ecumenical Forum for Young Theologians, an international association for lay and ordained ministers from all denominations.
Andreas is married to the poet and academic Katherine Firth.
